Lessons

Boston-born and Brooklyn-based. Nick LeClair Throop is a multi-instrumentalist and music teacher working and playing around the greater NYC area. After achieving a B.A. in music performance, Nick moved to Brooklyn and subsequently formed Steamboats, a folk/bluegrass vocal trio, and Butterchild, a 5 piece funk/soul project. Both bands tour the NYC and New England area so check out their respective links to stay up to date on our latest gigs and releases. From early beginnings playing Chopin etudes on piano to arranging Bach suites for classical guitar at Ithaca College, Nick has developed his playing and writing via a wide range of influences and caters each lesson to the students wants and needs.  He seamlessly incorporates the fundamentals of theory and technique into his pedagogy without the tedious lectures! All students must own their instrument of choice and all lessons are held in the student's homes.
